HMRC Targeting Restaurant and Take-Away Trade - Catering VAT or Not?
HMRC are increasing attention on the restaurant and take-away trade to, amongst other things, raise
the tax-take. But traders in that sector, to protect themselves, need carefully to scrutinise any claims
made by HMRC for extra standard rated VAT. Here are four useful points to look out for.
International Trade with the UK
For goods or services moving into or out of the UK the tax regime can be extremely complex. Disputes with the UK tax authority,
HM Revenue & Customs, can come up sometimes years after the event and any additional tax assessed can
be very considerable. Eamon can give written advice to help prevent tax disputes arising or advise and represent you if you already
have a dispute in progress.
Whilst Eamon can advise on imports and exports for all areas of the world, two areas which Eamon is most often asked about are China and the United States.
Further details of these are at US, China and other International-UK imports/exports
